What is a Family Nature Club?
Family Nature Clubs are informal opportunities to connect. We'll highlight new seasonal activity each gathering, hear from other local experts, and dive into some fun nature-based and wildlife stewardship activities.
What will we do at Family Nature Club?
Each gathering will look a little different. We may gather to build bird houses after taking a walk at a local meadow, or practice identifying wild edibles and creating a wild-harvested dish together, or maybe we'll take an evening stroll to call for owls.
Where does Family Nature Club take place?
We'll gather at different local natural spaces for each gathering. Some gatherings may also take place at the locations of partner organizations.
What should you do to prepare for Family Nature Club?
To ensure the health and safety of all participants, please bring your own supplies and materials. You may want to bring: weather-appropriate clothing (layers are great!), appropriate footwear, snacks, water, a camera, a backpack, a nature notebook and writing tools, collection containers (in case we find something cool to collect!), bug spray, sunscreen, baby wipes, plastic bag for trash, etc.
How will you practice safety at Family Nature Club?
Like all other Among the Ferns programs, our Family Nature Club gatherings will practice all safety measures encouraged by the state of PA. Gatherings are limited to a certain number of participants, dependent on the space being used. All participants over the age of 2 are asked to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible (please plan to arrive wearing your mask). If you are ill or experience any COVID-19 symptoms, please do not attend a gathering. Please bring your own mask, sanitizer, and any other needed materials.
How do I join a gathering?
Participation is limited at each gathering and registration is required. See open opportunities at the top of this page.
